Hello people of Webbcraft. Mr. Bond here.I want to propose a simple update to the current faction plugin, it's a simple update honestly, one which I feel would bring a lot more creativity, and building collaboration of players to the server. On a server I used to play on before it was shut down, still sad about it but anyways, they had a faction CMD that allowed players to add individual players from perhaps another faction, or even players without factions, to build on there faction land. And from what I saw on the other server it did really well. There where no complaints about it, and no one didn't like it. Here are a few PRO's to this idea: One, It would allow players to help other players build better buildings, bases, farms, what have u not, by allowing the creativity of one player to be implemented into someone else's build. Two, It open up a whole new world of Town's, and city building, by allowing players to build a building, and then allow other players who maybe want to live in that building, live in it without having to un-claim the whole building. Three. It would save a lot of time, and energy needed to un-claim a build just to have someone else add onto it, or join in on the build without players having to leave and join that one faction that has the build already claimed. Four, It allows for a more controlled way of knowing who to allow to build, without worrying about if you can trust that one player or not. All you would have to do is re-enter the CMD that allowed them access in the first place and BAM, no more access. That is of course if you allowed a player that griefed, or perhaps you just don't like them. Some CON's now, One, you could allow a player you initially trusted to build on your land, and then they griefed. However, since this server is heavy on grief rules, and staff do have the ability to rollback, this I feel could be overlooked. Two, You have to update the already fine faction plugin, which I am not sure what it entails, but I am putting this on the CON list because once updated, it could ruin the already implemented factions plugin. ( IDK about this one, but if someone could explain to me how updating this would affect players already claimed land and factions that would be great) That's all for now to be honest. I hope that this gets a good community response as I do feel it would be beneficial to this server seeing as this server is primarily a building based server, and not really a PVP server. +1 I really want this to happen, and have suggested to the higher ups before. There is just one big issue with it; server ranks. Luigi and Loki would both have to spend time implementing the new permissions into Group Manager, and maybe the plugin might have to be updated which the groups would probably be deleted. This means that the donators and people with Citizen+ and above wouldn't have their ranks anymore. Although I hope that doesn't happen, we should still give it a fair thought. |

Hopefully updating Factions, which is separate from GroupManager, would not result in a loss of ranks. That being said it would almost certainly be a loss of all faction data.There may be a way for luigi to copy the necessary files and re-implement them after the update, but Im not sure. Regardless, this does sound like a fun idea, it will be looked into I believe, tho it may come out to be to hard to implement or have other issues I have forgotten about for the time being that luigi has not. |

I mean, Perhaps when the new map roles out and a new world is created. If I am correct in my memory, we had to create all new factions anyways. So I am not saying it would have to be implemented during our current map, but perhaps before we all rush over to a new world, which by the way super stoked about, the factions could be updated then so it wouldn't disturb anything. Still, IDK how plugin updates and stuff work with new maps. Just a thought to think about. :) |
